You’ve probably heard "polishing", "paint correction", “Ceramic coatings,” and “buffing” everywhere but are not sure what the difference is or what one will actually help your car.

Swirls make the paint look worn out

Swirls and scratches in the top surface of the paint reduce how glossy and reflective the paint is.

How does polishing work?

When we polish a vehicle, we are slowly wearing down the clear coat layer of the vehicle’s paint. Any swirls in the paint are typically in the clear coat layer. Before any polishing is done, oxidation and contaminants in the paint must be removed first. We essentially reveal a brand-new layer of paint on your car, hopefully bringing it back to what it looked like when it was new. The clear coat is typically the thickness of a piece of paper, so It’s important to know what you are doing or get a professional to do it.

Unfortunately, polishing cannot fix all types of damage to your car’s paint. Damage such as egg shells, bird droppings, and deep scratches cannot be repaired with polishing; however, we can bring the glossiness of the car back and make it reflective and shiny again.

How can I stop swirls and scratches?

Swirls and scratches are typically an unavoidable part of owning a car. Any time something touches the paint surface, and dirt or dust will drag over the surface, scratching the clear coat. Using a chamois and sponge to clean your car is likely causing swirling and scratching in the paint.
